My story
2015 - MasterChef: The Professionals. I bombed on national television.
What followed was a six-year spiral of self-sabotage disguised as “working hard”.
By 2019, I’d built a six-figure chef recruitment business working 70-80 hours a week.
Drinking most nights to manage stress I was creating. Grinding harder to prove the MasterChef failure didn’t define me, while letting it program every decision I made. Present physically with my kids, absent mentally.
The business was successful. I was miserable.
The prison wasn’t my circumstances. It was my programming.
The breaking point
2021 changed everything.
I stopped running from discomfort and started running toward it. Literally.
The brutal truth: I had created my own prison. Every limitation I blamed on circumstances was actually a program I was choosing to run.
Something needed to change.
The systematic overhaul
The transformation wasn’t motivational. It was methodical.
I quit alcohol after six years of using it to manage emotions I was afraid to feel. Every drink was borrowing tonight’s relief at tomorrow’s compound interest.
Started running ultramarathons to prove my body wasn’t the limitation. Eventually represented my country in an elite ultramarathon event. Not because I discovered hidden athletic talent, but because I stopped believing transformation has an expiration date.
Systematically debugged every mental program that wasn’t serving the life I wanted to build.
The business? Scaled from six figures at 70-80 hours per week to seven figures in under 10 hours per week. Not through hustle, but through eliminating every activity born from limiting beliefs about what “successful business owners” are supposed to do.
Now I take my kids to school every morning. Every evening and weekend is mine. Time with them isn’t something I earn through productivity, it’s what productivity creates space for.
Four years sober. Building a business that serves my life instead of consuming it.
